KAWASAKI MOTORS CORP., U.S.A. ANNOUNCES REORGANIZATION Greater efficiency will support long-term goals. IRVINE, Calif. (June 26, 2009)””Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. today announced a reorganization focused on increasing long-term profitability while establishing a new reporting structure more closely reflecting the current operational characteristics of the company’s various divisions. According to Takeshi Teranishi, president, the revised corporate structure will improve Kawasaki’s ability to quickly respond to changes in the marketplace that affect its dealers and consumers. “We have seen how significant alterations in economic conditions can create an environment that places pressure on all levels of our business,” said Teranishi. “It is important that we continue to take steps to position Kawasaki to respond to immediate needs while also enhancing long-term support for our dealers,” he concluded. The revised structure more closely groups components of the company that can benefit from synergistic relationships in the day-to-day operations of the powersports products marketer. While only a few departments were realigned, the number of divisions reporting to the president’s office was reduced through consolidation. The sales and marketing divisions “” both key areas that play significant roles in the company’s operations “” combined efforts and also include Kawasaki’s accessories division and trademark licensing in the same grouping. The information systems division, overseeing all back-end data services, will now become part of the company’s product operations division. Departments that have been realigned include product planning, which moves to the corporate planning division, and human resources and public affairs to Kawasaki’s legal division. “Increased efficiency brought about by these changes will lead to a more flexible environment that allows the company to continue to move toward its aggressive longer term business goals,” said Teranishi. Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. (KMC) markets and distributes Kawasaki motorcycles, ATVs, personal watercraft, utility vehicles and recreation utility vehicles and commercial grade lawn care and landscaping equipment through a nationwide network of independent power sports and lawn and garden retailers. KMC and its affiliates employ nearly 3,300 people in the United States, with 400 of them located at KMC’s Irvine, California headquarters. Kawasaki’s tagline, “Let the good times roll.™”, is recognized worldwide. The Kawasaki brand has become synonymous with powerful, stylish motorcycles for over four decades. Information about Kawasaki’s complete line of recreational products and Kawasaki affiliates can be found on the Internet at www.kawasaki.com. Follow up: When Roadracingworld.com inquired with Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A.’s Media Relations department about the status of Michael Preston, who oversaw the company’s road racing effort, Public Relations Supervisor Russ Brenan wrote back: I understand you had some questions with regard to Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A.’s recent reorganization and specifically about Mike Preston. Mike’s title was Manager, Pro Racing, he was responsible for coordinating KMC’s professional road racing efforts. He along with Mike Fisher, Manager, Motocross Racing reported to Shigeo “Stanley” Takagi the General Manager, Product Advancement and Racing under the previous structure. As divisions and departments were realigned to accommodate the current economic conditions and to position KMC for future growth, certain jobs that existed within the prior structure were eliminated. Kawasaki took measures to minimize the number of employees affected, but when a realignment of functions occurs in a down economy, it unfortunately touches many. Therefore, almost all areas of the company were involved. Sincerely, Russ Brenan Public Relations Supervisor Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A.
