The annual Racing 2 Save Lives charity track-day event at Utah’s Miller Motorsports Park will take on a new dimension this year, with the addition of a four-hour endurance race on the afternoon of July 4. The race is part of R2SL’s three-day festival that runs July 3-5, raising funds for selected children’s charities through track sessions on Miller’s world-renowned layout, a silent auction and other exciting activities. The first-ever R2SL Endurance Race will be a “pony express”-style event, in which each rider uses his or her own bike, and the only activity that takes place on the hot pit lane is a transponder exchange. Bikes may be fueled only in the cold pit and serviced in the cold pit or garages. Participants in the four-hour R2SL Endurance Race will compete in one of four classes. – Team Endurance: for teams of two to six riders. Each team rider must ride a minimum of 30 minutes. Non-race-licensed riders may participate after evaluation by the R2SL rider coaching staff. Each team must include at least one licensed racer. – Femme Fortitude: for all-woman teams, using the same rules as Team Endurance. – Old Timers: for teams consisting solely of riders who are 45 or older, using the same rules as Team Endurance. – Iron Rider: for licensed racers who opt to ride the entire four hours solo. All entrants must be registered to participate in at least one R2SL track session. The race-entry fee is $1000 per team or Iron Rider. This fee is in addition to regular R2SL sessions. For more information, riders can visit the R2SL website at www.racing2savelives.org. Registration and downloadable rules for the R2SL Endurance Race are available at www.racing2savelives.org/ride.php. All proceeds from the R2SL Endurance Race, R2SL track sessions, R2SL silent auction and other activities are donated to deserving children’s charities. Over the past six years, R2SL has donated some $246,000 to organizations such as the Make-A-Wish Foundations of Utah and Colorado; Tooele County Children’s Justice Center; Tooele Kiwanis Baby Cupboard; Cystic Fibrosis Foundation; Larry H. Miller Charities, and a host of other worthwhile organizations. Racing 2 Save Lives is a registered 501(c)3 charity.
