Puerta’s teammates Huntley Nash (12th) and Bryce Prince (14th) will also race the 10-lap event Sunday. Despite cold and rainy conditions, the young LTD Racing team was able to prepare for their next race in the single session on Saturday. Puerta, from Colombia, showed speed in the cold on Saturday. He put his LTD Racing Yamaha on the second row for Sunday’s race in what is just his second race weekend with the team. “I was happy with qualifying today. It was very cold and the conditions were difficult,” said Puerta. “Hopefully the race will have better weather but I am excited to race.” Nash was hoping for a front row start, but crashed in turn five early in the session. “I’m pretty mad at myself for crashing. I was looking to put it on the front row but I made a mistake and paid for it. I came into the pits after the crash and told the guys to get it ready to ride because the four-mile lap makes it tough to get many laps in during the sessions. We ended up 12th but our Friday times would have been good enough to be on the front row. I feel good about the race, though. I’m hoping we can earn another podium like we did at Barber and that the weather is better.” Prince was able to put some good work in during the session. “It was so cold, it was tough to do a really good time, so I made sure I didn’t make any mistakes. I feel good about the race and can’t wait,” said Bryce, who is filling in for the injured Joey Pascarella this weekend.
