After a very lengthy but successful knee surgery on Monday at the hands of Doctor Thomas Bryan, Scotty Van Hawk will be out of action this weekend at Infineon Raceway. Four Feathers Racing has assembled a very impressive rider line up and will be out for their best finishes this season. Ryan Elleby will be riding the #27 4FR Toyota Trucks/GreenerAcres.org GSXR1000 in the American Superbike class. “Ryan will be a great asset to the team and we are setting our goals on top ten finishes” said Scotty Van Hawk Bobby Fong will return to AMA action on the #27 Toyota Trucks/GreenerAcres.org R6. “We are putting Bobby on the same bike that caried Steve Rapp to two ninth place finishes and a superpole debut at California Speedway. Bobby is a great rider and we are sure he will put in an equally impressive performance at his home track.” Mark Crozier will return to action for the team on the #47 Toyota Trucks/GreenerAcres.org sponsored GSXR1000 in American Superbike. “Mark has done well for us this year, breaking into the top 15 with very little time on the bike. The team and rider are working well together and look forward to another successful weekend.” More, from a press release issued by Paradigm Racing: “Paradigm Racing is heading to Sonoma, California for Round 5 of the 2009 AMA Pro Racing Daytona SportBike series. The rolling hills of the Sonoma Valley provide the backdrop as The Kawasaki AMA Superbike Showdown takes place at Infineon Raceway from May 15th-17th. Returning for his second race is rider Damian Cudlin who has shown a natural ability to adapt to new tracks. Cudlin leaves the previous round with two strong finishes and his first ever AMA SuperPole appearance. He quickly got a feel for a bike and track that was completely new to him. A 12th place finish in Saturday’s race provided a great start for his first outing with the team. The race began with a tough start as Damian was pushed down several spots. However, he battled hard and fought his way back through the field to cross the line with a solid top fifteen finish. In race two he followed this up with a tremendous 8th place finish in wildly varying conditions. A good start enabled Cudlin to push hard throughout the race. He rose as high as 7th position before the drying track left the Dunlop rain tires searching for traction. “It’s really, really tough. To ride rain tires that hard on a dry or semi-dry track can really eat them up. In the wet the Dunlop rain tire is brilliant, but when you ride it on a dry track this punishing you are asking for trouble. In the end we were able to bring the Paradigm Racing Yamaha R6 across the line for two solid finishes on my first race weekend with the team. Obviously I’m pretty happy with the results and I can’t wait to get to Infineon. It’s a track I’ve never ridden, but I’m confident that my team will give me a great bike and we should be in a good position to capitalize on our work at Barber.” Crew Chief Perry Melneciuc was also pleased with Cudlin’s debut pair of races. “I think he did extremely well, especially considering he was new to the track, team, and bike. The team really rallied together and I couldn’t be happier with the direction that we are headed. Infineon can be a tricky racetrack, but were are really excited to get back to the races.” For more information on Paradigm Racing visit www.paradigmracing.net or follow the team on Twitter at www.twitter.com/paradigmracing.” More, from a press release issued by Michael Jordan Motorsports: MICHAEL JORDAN MOTORSPORTS PREVIEWS WEEKEND’S RACES AT INFINEON RACEWAY CHICAGO Michael Jordan Motorsports rolls into northern California for Round 5 of the AMA American Superbike Championship at Infineon Raceway this weekend. The #23 Jordan Suzuki and #54 National Guard Jordan Suzuki teams will take to the Sonoma, California track on Friday May 15 to start the three day Superbike Showdown, with feature races happening on both Saturday and Sunday. This will be the teams’ second race on the new 2009-spec GSX-R1000s, with both teams leaving Round 4 at Barber Motorsports Park with strong finishes on the new motorcycle and with the goal of more good results to come. Jordan Suzuki #23 Aaron Yates’ second place finish in Race 2 at Barber Motorsports Park last round was his best finish to date and the highest finish for Michael Jordan Motorsports this season. Looking to build from that strong result, the #23 team comes into Round 5 with a much better understanding of the new 2009 GSX-R1000 and proven results behind it. Yates is currently in seventh place in the Championship standings with 98 points. “I’m looking forward to racing this weekend,” said Yates. “It was really good to get up on the podium last weekend at Barber and the whole crew is eager to keep the momentum going. Infineon is a classic track and I’m ready to get back at it.” National Guard Jordan Suzuki #54 Geoff May and the #54 National Guard Jordan Suzuki team sit firmly in third place in the American Superbike Championship, after scoring a top five finish in Race 2 at Barber Motorsports Park. With one race on the new 2009 GSX-R behind them, the #54 team hopes to build off that and comes into Infineon Raceway ready to put the 1000cc Suzuki back on the podium. May has 122 Championship points. “My crew has put in some hard work figuring out the new Suzuki and we’re pumped for Infineon,” said May. “We came out of the races at Barber with valuable data and put ourselves back into the top three for the Championship hunt and are ready to put the #54 back up on the box.”
