The French Round of the FIM Superbike World Championship is scheduled to take place at Magny-Cours on 2nd, 3rd and 4th of October 2009, a circuit that is much appreciated by riders, organizers, media and public alike. The circuit company, led by Mr Philippe GUILLAUME, has organized and developed the French Round of the FIM Superbike World Championship since 2003, and the event has met with growing success, most notably regarding the public attendance (+105% in six years, +18% in 2008 compared to 2007) and as a result the economic benefits for the region. On March 31st, after a productive meeting between Paolo Flammini and Philippe Guillaume in Paris, both parties with the aim of developing the event in the long term have agreed on an extension to the binding contract for three more years, from 2010 to 2012, on the Nevers Magny-Cours Circuit. The growing popular success of the World Superbike Championship in Magny-Cours is partially due to a ticket price control policy, initiated by the late President Gérard DUMAS: for the year 2009, it has been decided to keep the same prices as in 2008 and 2007, with no increase, and also to launch an attractive promotion campaign.
