About High Plains Raceway (HPR) HPR is the newest road racing motorsports circuit in the Rocky Mountain area. The track officially opened in March of 2009. The track is 2.55 miles in length and boasts 15 dramatic turns. The rolling terrain and about 300 feet of elevation change, per lap, makes HPR one of the most exciting racetracks in the country. There are motorsports events scheduled nearly every weekend through the end of the season in November. Also on the calendar is the Grand Opening Gala scheduled for August 1, 2009. Fund raising activities continue in support of the planned facilities build-out, which include restrooms with showers, concession stand, classrooms, and garages. The story of how HPR came about is as unique as the track itself. It’s the only facility in the country conceived, financed, designed and built by a collection of amateur road racing clubs and their members. Participating clubs are the Motorcycle Road racing Association (MRA); the Porsche Club of America, Rocky Mtn. Region (PCA-RMR); Rocky Mountain Vintage Racing (RMVR); the Colorado Region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA); and the Multi-Car Club Alliance (MCCA). The Multi-Car Club Alliance itself is a collective of eight other car clubs. Directions: Sixty miles (One hour) west of I-25 and I-70. Go east on I-70 to the Byers exit. Left at bottom of ramp, onto Hwy #36, then seventeen miles to track on left.
