Steve Bonsey Returns To U.S. To Compete In AMA Pro Grand National Flat Track Series DAYTONA BEACH, FL (May 1, 2009) Steve Bonsey the 2005 AMA Horizon Award winner and 5-time National AMA Racing Amateur Dirt Track Racing champion has spent the last couple of season competing in the World MotoGP 125cc class now returns to the U.S. to compete in the AMA Pro Grand National Flat Track Series. Kenny Roberts, a 2-Time AMA Grand National Flat Track Champion and 3-Time World MotoGP Champion had been grooming Bonsey for a career in Road Racing when the team Bonsey had been riding for folded. Unfortunately for the young American, this year he joined the 250cc Aprilia Madrid team right at the wrong time, just as the financial crisis hit the world economy. At the IRTA tests earlier this year, Bonsey’s Aprilia Madrid were a no-show, with no evidence that the team would turn up at any point. Therefore Bonsey packed-up and headed back to the U.S.. George Mack, owner of Mack Daddy Racing and Pat Moroney, of Moroney’s Harley-Davidson are teaming up to supply bikes for Bonsey to race the Springfield TT and Mile coming up May 23-24 in Springfield, Illinois. “This is a great young man with a ton of talent,” said Pat Moroney. “Bonsey will add his name to an elite list of riders that I have been privileged to have rode my equipment at Springfield including; Nickey and Rodger Hayden, Will Davis, Jake Zempke,Mike Hacker, Jake Johnson, Kenny Coolbeth, Jared Mees, Davey Camlin and of course our current Screaming Eagle rider, Bryan Smith who will be preparing Stevies XR 750 and coaching him with setup and sharing his mile experience.” Bonsey will be supplied 450cc Honda motorcycles for the TT along with Harley-Davidson XR750s for the Mile.
