Marietta, GA (April 30, 2009) LTD Racing is pleased to announce Colombian Tomas Puerta has joined the team as a guest rider. Puerta, one of the hottest teen racing talents hailing from South America, will participate in the AMA Pro SuperSport presented by Shoei East division. Tomy will race with LTD Racing’s original competitors (championship points leader Joey Pascarella and rising star Huntley Nash) on Yamaha R6 machinery beginning at this weekend’s race at Barber Motorsports Park and continuing on through the season. Tomy, from Medellin, Colombia, competed in the 2008 Red Bull AMA US Rookies Cup and earned fifth in the final points standings. Puerta showed his skill last season, winning pole for the VIR race and earning second at Infineon Raceway. The 16-year-old was one of the most aggressive riders in the Rookies Cup and had further success in the CCS Florida region, winning four events and finishing second four times earlier in 2009. “I am happy to be racing in the AMA again and to be in the Supersport class,” said Puerta. “This weekend will be my first time on the Yamaha R6, so we will try to go as fast as we can while I get up to speed with the bike. The team seems great and it is good to be racing with Joey and Huntley again. We expect to have success and learn a lot.” The team has prepared a third LTD Racing Yamaha R6 at the team’s shop in Marietta, Georgia. Crew chief Jason Parker said, “Tomas rode the 125 last year and he did well on the big bike in the club events he raced earlier this season. He’s a versatile rider. We expect him to do well on our bike, too. Tomy has a great attitude and a lot of talent. He fits in well with our guys and he’s the type of racer we enjoy working with. We’re really excited about having Tomy on the team.” “Tomas is a really fast rider,” said Huntley Nash. “We’re stoked we have Tomas on the team now. Joey and I talked to him at Daytona, where he was racing CCS. He was doing very well in that series but he sounded pretty bummed not to be in AMA Pro SuperSport this year. The team was able to work something out around Road Atlanta and now he’ll be riding with us. He’s a good friend and super excited to join the team. Of course, our goal now is to get all three LTD Racing bikes on the box!”
