American Kenny Noyes Makes Kawasaki Debut in Spanish Extreme at Albecete this Sunday Kenny Noyes won the final race of the 2008 Spanish CEV Extreme class at Jerez last fall and will make his first ride this weekend for the Palmeto Kawasaki team as the Spanish National Roadracing Championship gets under way at Albacete. The Spanish-born, Barcelona-based American finished fourth in the championship last Season with the Motorrad Suzuki team but joined the official Kawasaki squad for 2009 and will receive full factory support from Michelin. “There has been a lot to get used to with a new team, a new bike and new tires, but we went well at all four pre-season tests and were quick in Friday’s free practices in the rain here at Albacete. The bike is good, the tires seem to work in all conditions and also seem good for race distance, so I am happy with the bike and anxious for qualifying to start tomorrow,” said Noyes. Carmelo Morales and team mate Javier del Amor, first and second in the title chase last year, are back with Laglisse Yamaha and Dunlop. Former Champion José Luis Cardoso, third last season, has switched from Suzuki to Yamaha and continues with Dunlop, while four-time Extreme Champion Jose David de Gea has moved into the slot left vacant for Noyes at Motorrad Suzuki (with Dunlop), while Noyes and Iván Silva (Inerzia-Immotec Kawasaki) carry the Kawasaki and Michelin banners in the premier class of the Spanish Roadracing Championship (CEV). Riders from eleven different nations are entered in the prestigious CEV series which has recently produced such GP stars as Casey Stoner, Dani Pedrosa, Jorge Elias and Toni Elias, in addition to producing the finishing touches to the development of riders like AMA SportBike star Martin Cardenas of Colombia and World Supersport factory Kawasaki rider Joan Lascorz. All three winners of the GP races in Qatar were CEV “grads”: Stoner in MotoGP, Hectór Barbaré en 250 and Andrea Innaone in 125.
