Hoobastank to Headline Miller Motorsports Park’s SBK Bike Bash
TOOELE VALLEY, UTAH (April 13, 2009) “” Miller Motorsports Park today announced details of its 2009 SBK Bike Bash, to be held May 28 in support of the second annual visit of the HANNspree FIM Superbike World Championship.
Festivities will begin at 5:00 pm at the Utah State Capitol, where Governor Jon Huntsman Jr. will greet a group of top World Superbike racers and their teams. The Governor will then lead a motorcycle parade including the racers, and to which the motorcycle-riding public is invited, from the State Capitol to EnergySolutions Arena. Among the World Superbike racers expected to participate are Yamaha’s Ben Spies, Ducati’s Noriyuki Haga, Honda’s Carlos Checa, Aprilia’s Max Biaggi and BMW’s Troy Corser.
At EnergySolutions Arena, starting at 6:00 pm, the Plaza area will be transformed into a motorcycle festival with a variety of entertainment taking place, including an exhibition by many of the top freestyle motocross and BMX stars, many of whom participate in the AST Dew Tour and X-Games; a skateboarding demonstration; an exhibition by BMW stunt rider Chris Pfeiffer; and an exhibition of trials riding by expert Geoff Aaron. Many of the top racers from the World Superbike and World Supersport championships will be on hand to participate in an autograph session for the fans. There will be motorcycle parking provided on the north side of the Plaza.
The feature attraction gets underway at 8:00 pm, when Hoobastank takes the stage inside EnergySolutions Arena. The members of the band are huge motorcycle racing fans, and actually contacted Miller Motorsports Park to inquire about getting involved with this year’s event.
“Last year’s Bike Bash, which was held at the Gallivan Center, was great but we knew we needed a bigger venue for this year,” said Dan Davis, President and CEO of Miller Motorsports Park. “We have a lot more entertainment this year for the fans, and having Hoobastank in concert is an unbelievable coup for us, so we’re expecting a lot more fans to attend. EnergySolutions Arena seemed like the natural choice for a new venue, and we’re looking forward to a great show.”
