Repeat Contributors Keep Action Fund Going Strong Year after Year

The Roadracing World Action Fund has reached a grand total of $659,236.42 in donations with $615,138.45 designated for road race and $44,097.97 for dirt track, thanks to strong support from racers and their families, friends and fans.

Last week, 10 new inflatable sections were delivered for deployment by AMA Pro Racing at Auto Club Speedway; another 10 new non-inflatable sections were delivered to Auto Club Speedway for use by Fastrack Riders and WERA West, and another five new non-inflatable sections were delivered to Blackhawk Farms for use by NESBA and other sanctioning bodies and track-day groups using the track.

Mr. & Mrs. Frederick C. Bittner have once again donated $2900, about enough for one section of inflatable soft barrier. The Bittners have donated every year since 2002. This year’s contribution brings their grand total to $21,150 including $16,950 for road race and $4200 for dirt track.

With his latest donation of $750 added to an earlier donation this year of $250, Steven M. Brunton has made this the second year in a row that he has donated $1000. His overall total donated is $2450.

David Pierce has donated $500 each year since 2005, for a grand total of $2000. He wrote: “I am pleased to complete another season without trying out the Airfence, and I am moved to ensure that it will be there should I need it. Thanks for looking out for me and my competitors.”

Charles Buse has donated six years in a row, for a total of $1700. For the third year in a row, Fastrack Riders held a fundraiser at California Speedway, featuring a silent auction and two-up rides given by Team Roadracingworld.com’s Chris Ulrich, raising $10,000 for the Action Fund.

Kurveygirl.com raised another $750, bring their grand total to $5752. Ducshop Performance Center held a charity auction on eBay in memory of Brad Haynes.

NESBA members supported the Roadracing World Action Fund once again with the 2nd Annual Blackhawk Farms Chili Cook-Off, raising $7085.35, more than tripling last year’s total of $2276.

Not to be outdone, NESBA SE held its own own Chili Cook-Off at Barber Motorsports Park last fall and raised $250 for the Action Fund. NESBA “B” Group member Steve McMahan wrote, “We had a great time, ate a bunch of chili, enjoyed a few beverages and did a lot of post-track day bench-racing. We also were able to raise a cool $250 in the process”¦We hope to continue the tradition at future track days and add to our contribution. NESBA is a first-class operation and its members are the best.” McMahan wrote that it was fellow NESBA rider John Plain who came up with the idea, stirring up competitiveness with the NESBA group up north, stating on the NESBA Track Talk Forum: “We got faster riders. Smarter women. And better lookin’ chili cooks in the Southeast.” In addition to the Chili Cook-Off fundraisers, individual NESBA members donated $275.
