Following the announcements this week of some disqualifications from the 2009 Daytona 200, here is an update of our previously released Daytona 200 Career Mileage Database:

With the disqualification of John Ashmead, current mileage leader Rick Shaw’s record of 3,728 miles is safe until at least 2011. With Ashmead’s miles erased from this year’s records, Ricky Orlando moves up to 2nd over with 3,524. So even if Orlando goes full distance in 2010, he would be 4 miles short of Shaw’s total.

Ashmead drops to 3rd with 3,491 miles.

Miguel Duhamel now has 2,639 miles and is now tied with Earl Widman for 5th overall.

Anthony Fania has 1,998 and is tied with Dick Klamfoth for 20th overall.

Dean Mizdal has 1,957 and moves up to 23rd overall.

Michael Barnes now has 1,806 and moves up to 27th overall.

The exclusive database of every rider to have competed in Daytona 200 races will be updated and included in the upcoming “Daytona 200 Update 2004-2009,” due out before next year’s Daytona 200. It will be a companion publication to “The Daytona 200. The History of America’s Premier Motorcycle Race,” by Don Emde.
