March 18, 2009 (Reno, NV)– Former AMA Superstock Champion Aaron Gobert will ride the #59 Holden Racing entry in American Superbike at the Fontana round of the AMA Roadracing Championship. After Jake Holden was tapped by Corona Extra Honda Racing to substitute for the injured Neil Hodgson, the Holden Racing #59 entry was in need of a rider. After so many people stepped up to help Holden Racing in the Daytona paddock, Jake figured this was a good time to return the favor, “When Murph (Syndicate’s Michael Murphy) called me and said I was going to ride the Corona bike, he asked me if Gobert could ride my bike this weekend. Aaron’s a good rider who, like me, was left without a ride this season. After all the help I got at Daytona, I figured it was time for me to pay it back. Hopefully, I don’t have to remind Aaron not to pass the team owner!” Gobert is confident going into the Fontana round, “The CBR1000 is a great package for American Superbike. We have all seen how fast Neil has been during testing and at Daytona. Granted, we don’t have all the trick bits he’s got but the bike is good enough to stick it up in there with some of the factory boys and show what a determined privateer can do.” About Aaron Gobert Born in 1980 in Sydney, Australia, Aaron Gobert achieved early success racing Junior Supercross and Motocross, winning multiple Australian national championships. At 16 he turned pro and won the first professional Supercross race he entered, launching his professional career. In 1998 he switched to roadracing and in 2000 he captured the National 250 Production Class Championship the series that’s turned out champions like Troy Corser and Mat Mladin. For 2001, Aaron moved to the U.S. for a ride with Graves Yamaha, the factory Yamaha satellite team. Between 2001 and 2005 he rode for both Factory Yamaha and Graves Yamaha, racking up multiple race wins and a 2004 AMA Superstock Championship along with a 3rd place in the AMA Supersport class that same year. In 2006 Aaron signed with factory Honda satellite team, Erion Honda, where he would compete in the Superstock, Formula Xtreme and Supersport classes scoring multiple race wins in the 2006 and 2007 seasons. 2008 Aaron competed with the Rockwall Honda Team scoring a dominant win in the wet Road America race and finishing fifth in the Formula Extreme Championship.
