Rome, Georgia: Her resume lists her occupation as high school student, but Elena Myers’ accomplishments show her as a seasoned racer with six-years experience at wearing leathers and beating fellow racers to the finish line in road races. According to her team, in 2006 at age 12, she became the youngest road racer ever to receive sponsorship from Kawasaki. And all while maintaining a straight-A average in high school. And now Ms. Myers just might be the youngest road racer ever to have Pirelli sponsorship. The 2009 racing season will be Myers’ second year of racing a 600cc bike, as she takes to the track on her Kawasaki ZX-6R in WERA West and selected AFM and WERA National events. Ms. Myers has already recorded class wins in WERA Nationals and earned the special record of being the youngest rider ever to win a 600cc Expert race in that series, forget about the fact that she’s also a girl. Pirelli North America Racing Manager, Chris Jensen, said, “Elena is a rare talent and unstoppable in her goals. She’s been an expert racer since 2004, when she was 14-years old. Every time I’m reminded of her accomplishments I’m stunned all over again. I had thought I understood what overachieving meant, but she takes it to a new level. And, best of all, she shrugs off expectations and is just having a good time.” Look for Ms. Myers, of Discovery Bay, California, at road racing events on the west coast throughout 2009.
