Danville, VA – WERA motorcycles racers are headed into VIRginia International Raceway for the series’ second event of the new season. Long a favorite among racers, WERA brings together some of the best racers on two wheels for an exciting weekend of races on the 2.25-mile North Course. With VIR’s policy of admitting guests aged fifteen and under free with a paid adult admission, plus the low weekend ticket prices of only $15 in advance for a two-day admission, VIR’s races are a great way to entertain the entire family. “This is always a good race for families,” says track general manager Josh Lief. “We’re doing everything we can to make everyone feel like they’re welcome at VIR. Come out and enjoy the park-like setting and all the track’s offerings, from the Oak Tree Tavern to the Plantation Valley Kart Track.” Practice for Saturday’s action starts at 8:30 in the morning and runs through the afternoon with a one-hour lunch break at 11:30. Sunday’s action begins at 8:00, with lunch between 11:00 and noon. Each day has a full schedule of races, with different classes running each day, so plan to attend both days and get a full dose of two-wheeled action. As always, the Pagoda Restaurant, Oak Tree Tavern, Plantation Valley Kart Track and the rest of VIR’s amenities are open to the public. VIR’s next specftator event in 2009 will be the Sports Car Club of America Muscle Milk Trans-Am and Oak Tree Double National, running sports cars over the 3.27-mile classic Full Course. The Bosch Engineering 250 for Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 brings the exotic Daytona Prototypes back to VIR for that series’ first race after the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona, where David Donohue repeated his father’s victory in that famed race, beating out Juan Pablo Montoya by only 0.167 second after 24 hours of racing. For tickets, see the track’s web site at www.virclub.com and click on the “Buy Tickets” link. VIRginia International Raceway is a multi-purpose road racing facility, located on the Dan River between Danville and South Boston, Virginia.
