Lee Acree will be returning to competition for 2009 running WERA National Challenge and WERA Sportsman Series events. His debut at the March 13-15 Roebling Road WERA National marks his first time on track since being injured during the 2008 AMA Superstock National at Infineon Raceway. Acree will be competing in the Open Superstock, 750 Superstock, and Formula One races aboard a Marietta Motorsports prepared Suzuki GSX-R750. Lee Acree: “I am psyched to get back on the bike and up to speed. It has been a long road back but I am more fit now than when I went to Infineon last May. I have been blessed by all of the support everyone has given me through my surgeries and recovery. It is definitely a miracle that I am fit and ready to ride so quickly. I have to give a huge thanks to the people who have stepped up to support my 2009 return.” Huey Stewart, owner of Marietta Motorsports, provided the complete bike build transforming Acree’s GSX-R750 from a street bike to a fully prepped Superstock spec race bike. Kevin Hunt’s KWS Motorsports built the Superstock engine that was installed and dyno-tuned at Stewart’s Marietta based shop. Huey Stewart: “I was very inspired to help Lee again this year. It’s an amazing testament to his positive attitude and determination that he’s overcome his injuries from that accident. But if you know Lee at all none of that should be a surprise. As strong as he is, as hard as he’s trained and with this GSX-R we’ve prepped for him he should have no problem putting himself and his sponsors in front and on the podium!” Acree is also proud to continue with support from Dunlop Tire, Race Tire Service, Arai Helmets, and Sidi Boots for 2009.
