AF1 Racing is proud to offer contingency to all Aprilia racers in the CMRA for 2009. With a potential payout of up to $575 per race in all Sprint, Endurance and Mini Classes, and $1000 for every Championship won, “We’re providing a level of support to Aprilia club racers not available since 2005, we really just want to see more Aprilias out there racing.” said Ed Cook, owner of AF1 Racing. The first round of competition at Oak Hill Raceway saw Ty Howard take home $250 with his 1st Place finish in Heavyweight Twins Expert aboard his Aprilia Tuono. “The Aprilia is just so much fun to ride, when I’m on it I don’t really have any desire to ride an inline 4 again.” said Howard. Cook commented further, “Ty was just barely 2 seconds off the lap record on his Tuono and we think he can narrow those times this year.” Other contingency winners were Christopher Gray in the Novice ranks earning $125 on his Aprilia RSV Mille with a 1st Place finish in Heavyweight Twins and 3rd Place in Superbike A, and AF1 Racing’s sponsored riders Jon Francis and Ted Phillips winning $50 with their 2nd Place overall finish in the 5 hour mini endurance aboard the new Aprilia RS125 streetbike. Francis also received an additional $150 on the RS125 with his 1st Place in Formula 4 and 3rd Place in Clubman Sprints. When asked what he thought about the races, Francis confidently stated “With the bike under superstock specs I was expecting some poor handling characteristics once we went to the slicks, but we didn’t have any problems. I could ride this bike ‘as is’ to wins all year.” Details of AF1 Racing’s Contingency payout are as follows: Eligible Classes: All Classes Sprint, Endurance and Mini Eligible Machines: Aprilia Motorcycles including RSVR, Tuono, Mille, Falco, Shiver, Mana, SXV 4.5/5.5, RS250, RS125, RS50, and any Aprilia GP 2-stroke bikes.
