Ryan Farquhar has confirmed that he will have a full Superbike machine at his disposal for the Isle of Man TT races, having agreed a deal with World Endurance specialists, Alf’s Motorcycles. The Dungannon rider will ride their Ninja Kawasaki ZX-10R in both the Superbike and Senior races, adding to his own race team’s efforts, details of which were announced last week. Although it will be their debut appearance at the TT, Alf’s Motorcycles are no strangers to International road racing having competed regularly in the World Endurance Championship since the turn of the decade. The Sussex-based Kawasaki dealer will be sending their full WEC-squad to the Island to support Farquhar and their proven expertise and skill will give him every opportunity of succeeding. Talking about the exciting deal, Farquhar commented: “I’m delighted to have secured a deal to ride a Superbike at the TT and am extremely grateful to Alf’s Motorcycles for providing me with the opportunity. Nick Morgan introduced me to Alf and after a few discussions we soon struck up a deal. Their World Endurance background will be invaluable at the TT and will allow me to compete on an even playing field in the two Superbike races. Combined with my own KMR Kawasaki team, I’m really excited about my prospects at the 2009 TT and it promises to be a great year.” Team principal Alf Hubbard said: “After years of running the team with UK endurance races, the move to World Endurance in 2002 was inevitable because I like a challenge and with a few years of Spa, Bol d’Or and the Le Mans 24hr under the belt it was a natural progression to want to enter the TT as another premium event to push us to even higher standards. I’m very excited to be entering the TT, having Ryan’s experience and skill, coupled with technical support from Nick Morgan at MSS, means we can give it our best shot and see where it leads us.” Sales and Marketing Manager for Kawasaki Motors UK, Michael Johnstone added: “Alf’s are just what people expect a Kawasaki dealer to be, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Their unrivalled endurance racing experience and meticulous machine preparation skills should provide just the sort of advantage for Ryan at the TT as they do for their legions of loyal customers.”
