Racer Santiago Villa participated in a two-day test February 2-3 at the Americas Racetrack in the Dominican Republic, with Team Prama Suzuki. Team owner and rider Radhamel Polanco invited Villa to test his newly purchased Suzuki GSX-R1000, and the big surprise for Villa was the fact that the bike was the Roadracingworld.com Suzuki racebike that Villa rode in AMA Superstock in 2008! When the two-day test was over, Villa had turned the fastest time at 1:18.13, with Polanco second-fastest at a 1:18.56. “It was a great test,” said Villa. “It was good to ride my old bike again, and the best part was that I tested the bike with Dunlop tires. Man, what a difference, I was in total control of the bike the whole time. This just gives me even more hopes for the 2009 season with the Dunlop spec tires. I didn’t do many laps but at the end the times just came to me. I had a great time, the people of Team Prama are very cool. “I have also been testing in Colombia with Martin Cardenas a lot, training and training, and this test just helped me get even more miles on my head. I can´t wait to work with my new crew of James Lickwar and Peter Hively at Daytona and debut my new AMA number 32, which was my traditional number in Colombia before I came to race in the U.S.”
