A fund has been established to benefit the wife and children of racer Joe Lopez, who died Sunday as a result of injuries sustained in a crash during a WERA West club event at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California. Lopez, age 32, is survived by his pregnant wife Debbie; son Joseph, age 13; daughter Alyssa, age 11; and daughter Leih, age 18 months. The In Memory Of Joe Lopez Fund has been set up at Wells Fargo Bank, under account number 110-180-5719. Funeral services are pending. More information will be posted when it becomes available. Lopez was involved in setting up a proposed AMA Superbike race team owned by Magic Johnson. When not racing, Lopez handled IT and websites for Johnson’s companies.
