Cupertino, CA (5 January 2008) Ducati North America is proud to announce the imminent arrival of the 2009 Monster 1100 S in US showrooms, and exciting celebrations surrounding the big-bore Monster’s arrival. This coming January 9-10th, over 100 Ducati dealers across the United States and Canada will be taking part in the Monster 1100 S showroom unveil. This event is a celebration to mark the delivery of the new naked bike that the media is hailing as a “rare breed” which “offers real charisma with its honest but visceral motorcycle charm.” Each dealership will put their own unique touches on the event, which includes a competition amongst fifty-eight of them to find the parts and service department capable of producing the coolest custom Monster. Fifty-eight dealers in the US and Canada have taken delivery of a body panel set in order to begin paintwork on the dealership’s dream Monster; and all have accessories in house waiting to be fitted on the dealership’s first bike. The weekend will celebrate the individuality and personal expression inspired by Ducati’s flagship naked bike and highlight the vast potential of the Monster 1100 S. About the Ducati Monster 1100 S: The arrival of the new 1100 and 1100 S now increases the size of the Monster family, a family that redefines the naked motorcycle and stakes its claim as the new icon of Italian excellence. Dedicated to those who want to make the ultimate expression, this jewel of style and performance is powered by the charismatic two-valve 1100cc Desmodromic twin-cylinder engine, famous the world over for its legendary torque and acceleration. With its new single-sided aluminum swingarm, high level of componentry, race-oriented chassis and 15 years of evolution, the Monster 1100 now takes its place at the head of the Monster family. The ‘less-is-more’ philosophy behind all Monsters underlines Ducati’s never-ending pursuit of genuinely compact, high performance motorcycles, but these new models have succeeded in being even more ‘pared down’ than their predecessors. The Monster 1100 weighs a whole 8kg (17.6lb) less than the already lightweight S2R 1000, making it by far the lightest bike in its category. Every single component has been redesigned and redeveloped in the order that form would follow function.
