Michael Jordan Motorsports (MJM) is close to finalizing a deal that will see MJM’s two-team effort race in the 2009 AMA Pro road race series on Suzuki machinery with Suzuki backing. That’s the word from a source at American Suzuki Motor Corporation who asked to remain anonymous because they were not authorized to speak to the media. According to the source, MJM plans to run two, one-rider teams, Aaron Yates on a MJM-branded GSX-R1000 and Geoff May on a GSX-R1000 sponsored by the Army National Guard. Both riders will race in the American Superbike class. May signed his contract on Friday, December 12. Yates is close to signing his contract, said the source. Suzuki will be finalizing other support team deals and announcing its 2009 road race contingency program soon, the source said.
