Cudlin sets New Lap Record at Firebird East Track. Damian Cudlin from Taree, New South Wales, Australia, set a new lap record at the final round of the CCS Southwest Season. Cudlin who has only been in the states for 2 weeks, put on a very impressive show for the local crowd. It was Cudlin’s first day on the bike, a 2006 Suzuki GSX-R1000 with 17″ wheels and Dunlop slicks. He only had one 10 minute session in the morning practice as the bike was late arriving at the track. The new lap record was set on lap 7 of the 12-lap Unlimited GP race with a time of 54.261. Damian went on to win the race beating local regular Kane Lasky who took second, and Scott Bergen took third. Damian rides for Evan Steel Performance, based in Tucson, Arizona. For more information on Damian Cudlin, please call Evan Steele at 1-520-294-3050. All of the top three finishers were riding Evan Steele prepared machines. The new record beat the old record (held for two and a half years by Mark Ledesma) by 0.037-second.
