Track Crafters, a Salinas, California based track day company that specializes in instruction based, recreational track days, has for the past year hosted the Doug Chandler Performance Motorcycle School. Beginning with the 2009 season, the Track Crafters name will cease to exist, and both schools and track days will be run under the Doug Chandler brand. Doug Chandler has been teaching riders and racers alike for the last 7 years. Doug, a three time AMA Superbike Champion, and still active in racing, brings his many years of skill and expertise the talent that earned him the nickname “Mr. Smooth” as well as a place in the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame to the track to share with riders from those new to the track, to those with many track days under their belts and help them become better, smoother, and most importantly, safer riders. Doug and his team of hand-picked instructors break down the track, running students through drills and exercises, alternating with classroom sessions covering all important aspects of skilled motorcycling. On track practice sessions will be to apply classroom topics and will be at all times performed with instructors who will be monitoring, assisting and giving feedback for each exercise. Doug Chandler Track Days will continue the TrackCrafters model of offering one on one instruction by the same expert instructors from the school at no additional charge. Doug Chandler Performance Motorcycle School and Track Days will run at Doug’s home track of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, as well as Buttonwillow Raceway, Thunderhill Raceway, and Reno Fernley Raceway in Fernley Nevada.
