New Australian Championship classes for 2009 ASBK Motorcycling Australia (MA) is pleased to announce three new Australian Championship classes for the 2009 Australian Superbike Championship. The new Australian Championship classes are: * Superstock 600 for C and D grade * Superstock 1000 for B, C and D grade, and * GP 250cc Mono. The new classes will be run in addition to the existing Australian Championship classes listed in the Manual of Motorcycle Sport. Chair of the MA Road Race Commission, Phil Tainton, said that the new classes are a great way for people who are new to the sport to compete in an affordable class while still contesting a National Title. “The addition of these new classes will give riders even more incentive from entry level right through to the two premier classes to become involved in the ASBK,” Tainton said. “The GP 250cc Mono class will be a great entry level class that will limit the amount of modifications that riders can make to their bikes making it a more economical Series for those starting out in an Australian Championship.” The new entry-level classes look set to boost the ever-popular Australian Superbike Championship Series, and generate more interest in the sport nation-wide. More information about the three new classes will be available in the 2009 Manual of Motorcycle Sport and on the MA website at: www.ma.org.au.
