The Central Motorcycle Road Racing Association wrapped up its 2008 10-race series with a well-attended finale at Texas World Speedway in College Station, Texas, last weekend. A field of 478 sprint entries participated in 18 races on Sunday and two mini sprint races on Saturday, as several class championships were decided on the final day of racing. Heading up the list of winners was Oklahoman Dustin Dominguez, who won five races on the day, including victories in the Liberty Motorsports Park Superstock B, South Central Race Center C Superstock, Sonic Springs D Superstock, Exel Transportation Formula 2 and D Superbike races. Dane Westby set a new track record and claimed wins in the RaceworX A Superstock, AVTEQ A Superbike, and Northwest Honda Formula 1 races. Dane’s record, a 1:41.717, came in the Formula 1 race. Ty Howard raced the Daytona Moto-ST race Saturday night and made it back to Texas in time to win the Island Racing Services C Superbike race, edging Dominguez by just less than half a second. Howard also gave Dominguez a tough battle in the C Superstock race, which Dominguez ultimately won. Another close race was the Team Mancuso Powersports B Superbike race, where Derek Wagnon beat Cory Burleson by just 0.067 seconds. In other Expert races, Pete Martins topped the CompuCrew Formula 40 Heavyweight race, Eric Falt won the Formula 40 Lightweight division, Conner Blevins beat Garet Tomlinson by less than a second to win the GMAN Racing 125 Grand Prix race, and Chase Vivion won the Heavyweight Twins race. Meanwhile, Brandon Spradling edged Eric Falt for the win in the Lightweight Twins Expert race. In the Novice divisions, Brandon Cleland won the Moto Liberty C Superstock race, Blair Krogh won the Ridesmart Lightweight Twins class, and James Keenan won the WINN Racing Formula 1 race. Saturday’s Shogun Motorsports CMRA Endurance race saw Team Mancuso Powersports Racing take the win, beating second place finishers GMAN Racing by three laps. However, the series title went to Moto Ace Racing, who ended the six hour race in third position, giving them the championship over Team Mancuso Powersports Racing by just 51 points. Village Idiots finished fourth overall at Texas World Speedway, two laps ahead of fifth place finishers D2Cycles. Faltless Racing won the Formula 2 division with an eighth overall finish, giving them the class championship for the year. In addition, GMAN Racing won the Formula 1 title, Team Mancuso Powersports Racing won the A Superstock title, Lone Star Track Days took the C Superstock title, and Moto Ace Racing claimed the C Superbike title. Among individual awards wrapped up at the race, Dustin Dominguez won the coveted CMRA Number One Plate for accumulating the most points in 2008, while Bud Johnson won the Rookie Expert Overall award.
