Scott Jensen to race China’s 41st annual Macau GP AMA Superbike racer to compete in a one of the most-demanding street circuits in the world Longmont, Colo. (October 9, 2008) Independent superbike competitor Scott Jensen will compete for the very first time in the infamous Macau GP in China. Jensen recently finished 11th in the AMA Superbike Championship under his own racing program and was one of only two Americans who competed in the World Superbike Championship round in United States earlier this year. The Macau GP circuit is held in one of the most densely-populated areas of the world, and the American racers are there by invitation-only. Competing in his first Macau GP, Jensen’s goal is to make the main program and have a respectable finish to represent his sponsors and his country. The 41st Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix is part of the annual Macau grand prix festival that includes open-wheel car and motorcycle racing, separately, on a street circuit. The overall four-day event has been running for 55 years. According to the organizers, the 3.8 mile street circuit is an exhilarating combination of long, fast straights and twisting corners. “It’s an honor to be invited to participate in the Macau GP as one of a few Americans,” said Jensen who rides the #61 Suzuki in AMA Superbike. “This is like a hat trick for a racer in my position to be able to compete in the AMA series, World Superbike and now in China in the same season! Thanks to everyone who has supported me this year.” At the World Superbike Championship round at Miller Motorsports Park in Toole, Utah on May 29 – June 1, Jensen, riding as a wildcard, finished a respectable 23rd and 20th in race one and race two, in that order. Companies can reach Chinese consumers through available marketing opportunities with Jensen’s Macau GP campaign. The race will be broadcast live on ESPN STAR in Asia as well as aired on other networks. Contact Bryan Peckinpaugh at [email protected] or 313-575-1245 for details.
