Michelin is using the AMA Superbike race this weekend at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca to test MotoGP tires. Michelin has entered Robert Jensen (a top privateer racer who makes his living winning contingency awards at club and regional races in America) in this weekend’s AMA Superbike race on a 2008-model Team Daffix Racing Honda CBR1000RR. “They asked me to come up here and ride around this weekend, so here I am,” downplayed Jensen. Jensen tested MotoGP tires for Michelin on a CBR1000RR Superbike September 5 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The bike he will ride at Laguna Seca is similar but not the same motorcycle. It’s no secret that Michelin has struggled during the 2008 MotoGP World Championship, and the round at Laguna Seca was one of the company’s worst this season.
