It’s an event, with something for everyone, whether they’re competing on Mid-Ohio’s world-class road course, enjoying the atmosphere of the racetrack or watching the racing action,” said AMA Sports National Technical Manager Anthony Grilli. The following companies have announced contingency payments for this year’s event: Bridgestone, Dunlop, Michelin, Pirelli, Buell, Kawasaki and Suzuki. More companies are expected to be announced soon and they will be listed in the Racing section of www.AmericanMotorcyclist.com. In addition to the action on the track, a Saturday night rider party will kick off approximately one half-hour after the day’s last race. Complimentary pizza and beverages will be available for riders, crew, officials, friends and family. Also, the @thletic Xpressions Communication Clinic will be offered at the AMA Sports Road Race Grand Championships. The clinic is a media skills development training program and is the same training provided to all athletes in the Red Bull AMA U.S. Rookies Cup. It will be held on the second floor of the Mid-Ohio Goodyear Tower on Friday, September 19 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Additional information is available by phone at (216) 244-1250 and also will be provided at the event. Sanctioned by the AMA and run by the Championship Cup Series (CCS), the event will feature CCS classes, including youth classes. The program will operate under CCS rules and regulations, and CCS officials will be on hand to handle officiating duties. To access a schedule and supplemental regulations for the AMA Sports Road Race Grand Championships, see the CCS website at www.ccsracing.us and the Racing section of www.AmericanMotorcyclist.com. Entries will still be accepted at the track as late as Friday morning. To take in the exciting action at the event, race fans can purchase tickets from the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, either in person the day of the event or online at www.midohio.com. The AMA Sports Road Race Grand Championships is the premier amateur road-racing event in the U.S. and awards AMA amateur national road-racing championships in a number of classes. Top riders also compete for the AMA Sports Road Racing Horizon Award, which goes to the rider showing the most promise for success in the professional ranks. Past winners of the AMA Sports Road Racing Horizon Award have included Jason DiSalvo, Ben Spies and Blake Young. About the American Motorcyclist Association Since 1924, the AMA has promoted and protected the motorcycling lifestyle. AMA members come from all walks of life and they navigate many different roads on their journey to the same destination: freedom on two wheels.
