Renowned riders and celebrated cycles will shine at the AMA’s Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum on October 10 and 11, 2008, as the Museum welcomes guests to Pickerington, Ohio, for Hall of Fame Weekend. The weekend celebrates the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Class of 2008, as well as all the men and women whose accomplishments have shaped the sport and business of motorcycling. The Hall of Fame class of 2008 includes Vaughn Beals, Harley-Davidson executive; Rod Coates, pioneer racer and businessman; Scot Harden, influential off-road champion; Larry “Supermouth” Huffman, inimitable Supercross commentator; Terry Poovey, AMA flat track champion, and Rolf Tibblin, World Motocross Champion. The 2008 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is scheduled for 6 p.m., Saturday, October 11, at the Hilton Polaris in Columbus, Ohio. “Cycle World” publisher Larry Little will serve as master of ceremonies for the event, and inductees Beals, Harden, Huffman, Tibblin and Poovey are all expected to be in attendance. Enthusiasts will have the opportunity to mix and mingle with this year’s Hall of Fame inductees, as well as other notable Hall of Famers, prior to the induction ceremony. Hall of Fame Weekend kicks off with a cocktail reception, “An Evening of Stars and Legends,” honoring the inductees. The reception, held at the Museum on Friday, October 10, is an opportunity to enjoy the company of motorcycling’s most influential riders. Additionally, on Saturday, October 11, the Museum will host the 7th Annual Concours d’Elegance. Last year’s show featured over 100 pedigreed motorcycles, several of them ridden by Hall of Famers. The Museum invites only the most compellingly original or painstakingly restored classic motorcycles to participate. The 7th Annual Concours d’Elegance will be held at the Museum in Pickerington beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Enthusiasts viewing the classic machinery will want to pause at 1 p.m., when the Class of 2008 will be signing autographs. Enthusiasts interested in attending Hall of Fame Weekend should visit www.motorcyclemuseum.org or call (614) 856 – 2222 for tickets and additional information.
