Chili Cook-Off Raises More Than $14,000 For Roadracing World Action Fund The second Northeast Sportbike Association (NESBA) Chili Cook-Off at Blackhawk Farms Raceway raised $7100 for the Roadracing World Action Fund, and with NESBA matching the money raised at the cook-off, that means an additional $14,000 to be used to buy and deploy soft barriers at the racetrack. Tom Menke, who oversees facilities, grounds and safety at the 1.95-mile circuit in northern Illinois, says last year’s chili contest raised enough money to buy eight sections of inflatable barriers. Menke also says that in the past year, he has personally seen 11 riders hit those soft barrier sections and additional sections contributed by the Action Fund; “That’s 11 guys who went home uninjured because of the Airfence,” Menke said. Menke says that the track will host a track day for motorcycles on October 13, with all proceeds going to the Action Fund, a 501(3)c non-profit organization. For more information, contact the track at Blackhawk Farms Raceway, 15538 Prairie Rd., South Beloit, IL 61080, (815) 389-2000, www.blackhawkfarms.com .
