Former AMA Pro Road Racing boss Keith Kizer has been mentioned in conjunction with a threatened Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC) alternative racing series being pushed by American Honda Senior Vice President Ray Blank. Members of the Road Race Industry Council (RRIC) promoters’ group said last week that the alternative series exists in concept only. Kizer’s last event running the AMA road racing series was at Daytona last March, prior to DMG taking over control and staffing of the series. But Kizer says he hasn’t had any contact with the MIC for years. “I have not had any communication with the MIC since 2006 when I was a member,” wrote Kizer in an e-mail to roadracingworld.com . “I have never had a conversation with Ray Blank in my life. We know each other by sight and know who each other are, but other than exchanging pleasantries, I have never had a conversation with him. Since my being dismissed from the AMA along with other numerous loyal AMA employees, I have no communication with any factory teams regarding MIC or any other sanctioning body or potential sanctioning body. The extent of my involvement in the motorcycle industry has been restricted to looking for work with tracks and promoters.” Kizer was involved in the successful running of the combined AMA Superbike and World Superbike race at Miller Motorsports Park earlier this year, under contract to Miller Motorsports Park. “We hired him for the entire 10 days to help us work with the different sanctioning bodies, FIM, AMA and World Superbike,” said Miller Motorsports Park General Manager Alan Wilson. “He did an outstanding job for us.”
