Alex Gobert’s Road Race Performance Academy has announced that it will support talented junior road racer Josh Hook with a coaching and sponsorship program run through RRPA and its supporters. The 15-year-old from Taree, New South Wales, made his road racing debut earlier this year and will be coached and guided by Gobert, who was a former Australian Junior Road Racing Champion before going on to a professional racing career in Australia and the United States. Hook currently competes in the MRRDA (Motorcycle Road Race Development Association) Series and AMCN Junior Nationals on a Honda CBR150, as well as in the AMCN Australian 125GP Championship on the all-new Honda-powered Moriwaki MD250H. His first championship success in road racing came earlier this year as he wrapped up the four-stroke category in the Junior Nationals, which was run in conjunction with three rounds of the Australian Superbike Championship. The teenager’s most recent success was achieved at round four of the MRRDA Series at Wakefield Park last weekend on 23-24 August, where Hook was able to clinch his maiden round win after scoring pole position and two out of three race victories for the weekend. Hook will now turn his attention to this weekend’s sixth round of the Australian 125GP Championship at Symmons Plains Raceway in Tasmania, where he will be looking to build on the solid ninth position he scored overall at the previous round against a packed field of race-bred 125cc two-strokes on his production-based 250cc four-stroke. Visit RRPA’s official website at www.rrpa.com.au for news on Josh’s progress over the duration of the season. RRPA’s inaugural Riding Development Program event will be held at Wakefield Park on 10 September, with Honda’s current Australian Superbike Championship points leader Glenn Allerton a confirmed guest at the event which will feature sessions for Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced riders. Entry forms can be found on RRPA’s website on the Calendar page at www.rrpa.com.au. ALEX GOBERT: “The talent Josh has displayed in his first season of road racing has been phenomenal and as yet another young dirt tracker who has made the transition to road racing he has adapted extremely well. The Road Race Performance Academy is pleased to be able to work with Josh and his parents to help him achieve his goals, so it is great to be able to watch him learn so quickly and progress.”
