FIRST PERSON/OPINION Via e-mail: As is often the case, information or documents “leaked” serve little purpose but to confuse an already confusing situation and end up damaging the very constituents they were intended to help. The context in which this document was written was to create in the minds of anyone who may think that setting up an alternate sanctioning body might be a viable solution, the doubts of reality posed by issues that would have to be faced, financed and overcome in order to do so. As such, it was intended to re-enforce the goal of the new Road Race Industry Council to find a way to resolve the pro racing situation “within the bounds of the DMG program” if that is possible. To this intent, the RRIC has arranged meetings with DMG and the manufacturers to attempt to reach a solution that works for all parties. Please note that the tracks involved have a very real role to play in ensuring a prosperous future for professional motorcycle racing and that they have a significant investment in this sport that they are required by their owners to protect. In “leaking” this information, the “disgruntled employee” has done nothing to help anyone involved in this serious, well-founded and communal attempt to resolve a very difficult, multi-faceted and complicated situation. Rather, they have added to the complexity of the problem by increasing uninformed speculation that will lead to participants in this attempt for resolution hardening their positions and being forced into making statements from which they may have difficulty in retreating during the inevitable concession processes that will be necessary for these discussions to be successful. Incidentally, any member of the media who had followed up on this disclosure would have has their questions answered without any attempts to limit newsworthy information. The “leaker” has done professional motorcycle racing a disservice. Alan L. Wilson CEO/General Manager Miller Motorsports Park Tooele, Utah
