Sprint Races At Heartland Park Topeka To Feature $25,000 Purse

TOPEKA, KS. (August 5, 2008) – Heartland Park Topeka is proud to announce the formation of the Heartland Road Race Series (HRRS) with the first Battletwin and Superbike Shootout presented by Level 5 and Hooters Saturday, August 15-16. This unique event, where both amateurs and expert racers race for cash purses is being held in conjunction with the Level 5 Heartland 500 presented by Hooters of Topeka featuring the SunTrust MOTO-ST Endurance Racing Series Sunday, August 17. All currently licensed road racers are invited to participate. The Level 5 HRRS Battletwin and Superbike Shootout presented by Hooters of Topeka provide seven classes to compete for $25,000 in cash purses for both amateurs and experts alike. Three classes are based on MOTO-ST structure with V-twin motorcycles as the base machines and three classes using GP format rules and specifications. The premier class, HRRS Superbike is based largely on the Daytona Motorsports Group Superbike format with a $5,000 first prize payout for the expert winner and $500 going to the amateur winner. All races are grid by qualifying. Qualifying begins on Saturday at 10 a.m. and racing starts at 1:30 p.m. Entry fees are $85 for Battletwin classes, $100 for GP classes and $125 for Superbike class. Friday practice is available for $85 pre-registration or $100 day of event. Gates for both days open 7 a.m. The day will be filled with two-wheel racing action and fun for fans of all ages. Topeka Sport Riders will be hosting a bike show with many different classes & prizes. As a track sponsor, the Kansas Army National Guard will also be a part of the day and are bring out demonstration military equipment, providing activities such as a rock climbing wall and much more fun for everyone. After the Saturday races, the Level 5 Heartland 500 presented by Hooters of Topeka featuring the SunTrust MOTO-ST Endurance Racing Series will kick-off the evening with a night practice starting at 6:30 p.m. The action-packed motorcycle racing event will end with HRRS Motorcycle Grudge Match Drag Racing for only $15 per bike from 8:30 – 10:30 p.m. The grudge match is open to anyone and it provides riders the opportunity to test and challenge their friends and bikes.
