Farquhar and JMF Millsport link up for Ulster GP Ryan Farquhar today announced that he will ride the JMF Millsport Superbike and Supersport Yamaha machines at the forthcoming Ulster Grand Prix where he hopes to add to his haul of International race wins. Farquhar, who has already taken 21 wins on the Irish National road racing scene this season, will also ride his regular Harker Racing Kawasaki in the Superstock race. Farquhar, who is currently leading both the Superbike and Supersport Irish National road race championships, as well as the Duke Road Race Rankings, recently met with JMF team principal James Murray and a deal was reached regarding the use a brand new R6 Supersport and a Superbike for the UGP. He had hoped to get a run on the Yamaha R6 at the recent Faugheen 50 meeting in preparation for the Ulster but a mechanical problem prevented that from happening. A number of riders were linked with the team, whose last road racing outing saw Alastair Seeley claim a win in the North West 200 Supersport race, but the team opted for the impressive pedigree of Farquhar, who has proved in recent years to be the leading Irish rider at International level. The 600cc Yamaha has proved a formidable weapon on the roads whilst the opportunity to race a full spec Superbike machine, something that he hasn’t had the use of in 2008, was also particularly important to Farquhar and he goes into the event as one of the race favourites in all classes. Already a four time winner at the ‘Prix, a happy Ryan commented: ‘I’m delighted to be riding for the JMF Millsport Racing team at the Ulster Grand Prix and with the machinery we have in place, we’ve got a great chance in all of the races. We tried really hard to get a Kawasaki Superbike to compliment my usual bikes but it wasn’t forthcoming so I’m really grateful to everyone at JMF Millsport Racing for the opportunity. It’s been a great year so far and I’m relishing the chance to ride a full spec Superbike machine for the first time this season and it will be great to compete in the Superbike races on an equal playing field.’ ‘The team are also supplying me with a brand new 600cc R6 bike, fully updated to the latest specification, for the two Supersport races and having seen how quick the Yamahas have been all year, I can’t wait for my first time on the bike. I’ll also have the continued support of Kenny Harker for the Superstock class where I’ll be riding my regular ZX-10 Kawasaki. I’m really looking forward to the meeting and all three bikes give me a great chance of adding to my 4 Ulster GP wins at Dundrod.’ The Ulster Grand Prix Bikeweek takes place from 11th-17th August.
