ERION RACING SET FOR A GOOD RUN AT MID-OHIO SPORTS CAR COURSE Filled with determination and armed with expertly prepared Honda motorcycles, the Parts Unlimited Pro Honda Erion Racing team pilots Jake Zemke and Josh Hayes are ready to set sail for the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and the running of the Honda Super Cycle Weekend, presented by Dunlop Tires, August 1-3. Competing in both the Pro Honda Oils Supersport Series and the AMA Formula Xtreme Series, both Zemke and Hayes are well-versed in what it takes to win and are eager to show fans their two-wheeled skill. Going into Round 7 of the AMA Formula Xtreme, Zemke leads the field by a margin of 32 points and his teammate Hayes sits in fourth. “I’m definitely determined to take the championship this year,” says Zemke who hails from California. “I have raced in this class for a number of years and while I have scored lots of wins, I have narrowly missed taking the title time and time again. I figure now it is my turn. So far we have taken four wins in six races and I’m hoping to make Mid-Ohio number five.” In the Pro Honda Oils Supersport Series, Zemke holds down second place, just 16 points out of first. “My goal is to win both races this weekend,” smiles Zemke. “I really like running at Mid-Ohio and have had some great races there. The trick is to find the right rhythm so you can link the track all together. I’ve been successful at that in the past and should have no problems this coming weekend. In fact, I think i have a good chance of realizing my goal.” Equally as determined to win is Zemke’s teammate Josh Hayes. The two time defending AMA Formula Xtreme champion, Hayes feels that Mid-Ohio offers a good opportunity for him to turn this season around. “I have struggled a bit so far this year,” explains Hayes who is ranked third in Supersport and fourth in Formula Xtreme. “Mid-Ohio has been good to me in the past and I’m hoping my luck holds for this weekend. I won last time out in Formula Xtreme and turned some great speeds in Supersport practice, but unfortunately the race was rained out. However, we did gather a lot of data that will definitely help. “I like the course a lot. The track surface is pretty smooth, the turns are challenging and there are lots of elevation changes. Just like Jake says, you need to get a good rhythm going and I think I should be able to do that without too much problem. Luckily the weather is looking pretty good for the weekend with no rain in sight, so come raceday we should be good to go.” A definite standout in the motorcycle industry, no other team can boast the success of the Parts Unlimited Pro Honda Erion Racing team. Celebrating 15 years as Honda’s premium support team, Erion Racing has amassed an impressive win record over the years, including six Formula Xtreme Championships between 1997 and 2007 (1997-2000, 2006, 2007), four consecutive Formula Xtreme titles from 1997 to 2000, two SuperTeams Championships in 1994 and 1996, a perfect season in 1999 (the team won all nine races) and back-to-back AMA 600 Supersport crowns in 1999 and 2000. Obviously their record leaves no doubt as to their ability and when the Green Flag waves at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, they will be on the line ready to head for Victory Lane. Erion Racing is sponsored by Parts Unlimited, American Honda, Pro Honda Oils and Chemicals, Dunlop, Dynojet, K&N Engineering, SBS, Renthal, NGK, D.I.D., VP Racing Fuels, CRG and Mettec.
