Records fall at Round 4 of the Miller Motorsports Park Masters of the Mountains motorcycle road race series. (Tooele, Utah) Round 4 of the 2008 Honda presents the Plaza Cycle Masters of the Mountains roadrace series proved to be the quickest and most competitive yet in the upstart series¹ brief three-year history. Number one plate-holder Aaron Clark of Longmont, Colorado won the blazingly fast King of the Mountain-GTO race with Scott Jensen laying down an unofficial 1:32.703, narrowly beating out David Anthony’s official 1:32.717 to be the first riders to break into the 1:32’s. The top seven competitors circled Miller¹s East Course under 1:35 giving spectators a fantastic show of top-level riding skills and competition. “That was a heck of a race, to be able to run with some of the top AMA Superbike privateers of the caliber of Scott Jensen and David Anthony was awesome. To be able to beat them was the icing on the cake so maybe there is some fight left in this old club racer after all,” said Clark. “I couldn’t have run at such a fast pace for the entire race without the help of Pirelli tires and R-Tech/Intermountain Race Fuels” Jimmy Wood of Redlands, California ripped a 1:34.671 in Middleweight Superstock to a win and new lap record on his Yamaha YZF-R6. A highpoint of the weekend was the USGPRU 125cc, 250cc and Moriwaki MD250H Powered by Honda spec class racing highlighting young talent from around the America’s. Thirteen-year-old Royce McLean of Coaldale, Canada rode his Yamaha TZ125 to dominate the Rising Sun Cycles 125 race with a 1:39.3 best lap. Kyle Ferris won the Moto Liberty 250 class and Kris Turner won the hotly contested Moriwaki MD250H Powered by Honda class. Round 5 of the 2008 Plaza Cycle Masters of the Mountains roadrace series is August 16-17.
