Anthony West (Kawasaki), Bridgestone, 1:25.685 More, from a press release issued by JiR Team Scot Honda: Andrea Dovizioso prepares for qualifying at Laguna Seca The start of the second day of testing for the United States Grand Prix has seen Andrea Dovizioso and JiR Team Scot devote their time to preparing for this afternoon’s qualifying session, as they develop their technical package for use in the race tomorrow. Without chasing the fastest lap time, the team has been working on suspension settings and the choice of tyres. The Italian rider ended the morning with the tenth-fastest time. Gianni Berti Technical Coordinator JiR Team Scot “The morning’s time on track was affected by the dampness of the track and the fog, which soon cleared. During the morning session we devoted our attention to improve the setting of the suspension and to verify the possible tyre solutions, which we will finalise this afternoon in anticipation of tomorrow’s race. The Team has worked well and this afternoon we may be able to find the solutions that will enable us to be fully ready for tomorrow.” Andrea Dovizioso Rider JiR Team Scot MotoGP HONDA RC212V 10th-best time: 1’23 “138 “We will have to wait until qualifying this afternoon to see if we can find some solutions that we can adopt for the race tomorrow. This morning the climatic conditions were not ideal to find the best lap time, but I managed however to improve what I did yesterday. The difference is that today I lapped Laguna Seca alone, while yesterday I followed other riders to get references. I am confident that if we succeed to improve this afternoon that we could make a good race. Others riders seem to have an advantage here, but I think that tomorrow we could be competitive. The standings this morning do not fully reflect the real potential in the field.” Pietro Caprara Chief Technician JiR Team Scot “It wasn’t until the end of the morning session thanks to the fog and damp conditions that we were under ‘normal’ conditions for practice. At the end of the session we managed to collect two important positive results: an improvement in the set-up of the front suspension and additional information on the choice of tyres. Qualifying, which should be held in conditions similar to what we will find in the race, will be the best time to verify what has been done this morning.”
