PICKERINGTON, Ohio–Renowned motorsports artist Tom Fritz has created an extraordinary painting that captures the spirit of the country’s premier gathering of classic motorcycles and the people who ride them: AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days, set for July 25-27 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio. The painting, featuring Triumph motorcycle racing legend Gene Romero, celebrates the brand as Marque of the Year, and will be auctioned at the event to benefit the AMA’s Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum. “We’re honored to have such a prestigious artist create this memorable artwork to commemorate this year’s AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days,” said Mark Mederski, the Museum’s executive director. “Over the years, Fritz has been commissioned to create some of the most memorable art in motorcycling history.” The 17-by-28-inch framed painting will be on display at the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum’s MotorHead Café at AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days before it is auctioned on Saturday, July 26, at the museum’s auction of vintage bikes and memorabilia. Fritz, who works out of his studio in Ventura County, California, produced the widely acclaimed 1998 Harley-Davidson Annual Report series, and was commissioned by the Harley-Davidson Motor Company in 2001 to paint an image commemorating the company’s 100th Anniversary. He has been commissioned by Harley-Davidson to capture the history of the Motor Company with his art, and has painted portraits of Harley-Davidson executive Willie G. Davidson as well as retired CEOs Richard Teerlink and Jeff Bleustein. Fritz is a four-time recipient of the Automotive Fine Arts Society’s prestigious Peter Helck Award, two-time recipient of the Strother MacMinn Award, and earned the Stanley Wanlass Art Award. He is a member of the induction committee for the Mattel’s Hot Wheels Hall of Fame at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles. His work can be found in private and corporate collections around the world, including the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum, Harley-Davidson Motor Company, Petersen Publishing, Troy Lee Designs, the NHRA museum, Northrop Grumman, General Motors, and the Ford Motor Company. Besides auctioning off the original painting, the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum is creating a limited run of giclee prints on canvas that will be sold at the MotorHead Café, or shipped to buyers, for $650 each. Plus, a limited run of 250 posters will be available for $20 each. Fritz will be on hand at the MotorHead Café at select times to sign the posters and talk about his art.
