MotoGP will be broadcast on network television across the United States once again this summer after an agreement was reached between MotoGP’s commercial rights-holders Dorna Sports and both CBS Sports and NBC. The deal will see three races broadcast on the CBS television network, including live coverage of the 2008 Red Bull US Grand Prix at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca broadcast during an hour-long programme on July 20th at 5-6pm ET. Additionally on CBS Sports, there will be hour-long same-day delayed broadcasts from the Alice Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland at the Sachsenring, Germany on July 13th (1-2pm) and from the Cardion Ab Grand Prix Ceske republiky at Brno, Czech Republic on August 17th (2-3pm). NBC will offer live coverage of the inaugural Red Bull Indianapolis GP from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on September 14th at 3-4pm ET, ensuring a momentous occasion for the sport will be televised to the wider public. The shows will include not only the coverage of some of the most spectacular sporting events to take place on American soil this year, but expert analysis from an experienced commentary team, and news and interviews from the top riders in the series. MotoGP is the world’s premier motorcycle championship, featuring the best racers on the planet riding multi-million dollar, prototype machines that can reach speeds in excess of 200mph. MotoGP takes its glamorous circus to all corners of the globe. The machines produce more than 240 horsepower and weigh in at just 325lb (148kg), demanding the ultimate in riding skill, which is personified by the likes of champions Valentino Rossi, Casey Stoner and American contenders Nicky Hayden, John Hopkins, and Colin Edwards. Helping to make the deal possible between the two parties was Van Wagner Sports and Entertainment, who will coordinate production matters with both CBS Sports and NBC and will work as Dorna’s US TV ad-sales agent.
