Winter Garden, Florida (June 20, 2008)–At the USGPRU’s season opener in Jennings, Florida, Celtic Racing’s PJ Jacobsen brought a friend from New York to have a go on the 125cc machine. Friend Jake Quick, with mentor Barry Gilsenan, adjusted quickly and had a impressive showing his first time out of the gate, finishing eighth. Quick from West Shokan , NY just finished 8th grade at Onteora Middle School in high academic rankings. Upon completion of school, he had been offered a spot on the Celtic Racing team. Jake will compete at Virginia (June 20-22), Road America (July 5-6), Shannonville (July 25-27), Barber (August 9-10), and the championship finale at Miller Utah (October 4-5) under the Celtic banner. Although Jake’s first Road Race outing was in April, he comes from a flat track background earning many championship titles and accomplishments. Both Jacobsen and Quick entered in the prestigious Flat Track Amateur Nationals for several years. From humble beginnings, Barry Gilsenan’s team has developed into a serious and professional unit, coined one of the leading Privateer teams in the USA with activities extending to Ireland and, in 2007, the UK and Europe. Celtic Racing firmly believes in supporting young riders entering the sport and run a full USGPRU schedule in order to aid these young talents on their journey to the pro ranks. Quick brings his individual sponsors of Markertek, Olive Builders, Kolb Machine, Bob Graydo’s Auto Body, Keith Jacobsen and She Loves Racing to the team.
