TOOELE VALLEY, UTAH (June 18, 2008) It’s been an embarrassment of riches for motorcycle racing fans at Miller Motorsports Park over the past few weeks, and the fun continues this weekend, June 21-22. With the Superbike World Championship, AMA Superbike Championship and the WERA National Series having visited in recent weeks, the focus returns to our local racing series this weekend. Round 3 of the seven-race Honda Presents the Plaza Cycle Masters of the Mountains road racing series will take place on the 2.2-mile East Course on Saturday and Sunday, while Round 2 of the seven-round Plaza Cycle Utah Supermoto Championship will be held at the Miller Kart Center on Saturday. The Honda Presents the Plaza Cycle Masters of the Mountains series was developed by Miller Motorsports Park and is run by the Utah Sportbike Association (www.UtahSBA.com) and sanctioned by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) to encourage and develop fun and competitive road racing at the club and regional levels. Riders will be competing in 16 different classes for contingency money (provided by sponsors for using their products), trophies and points toward the series championship. Supermoto is the fastest-growing form of motorcycle sport in America, combining road racing with motocross and using modified motocross bikes equipped with slick tires. The Plaza Cycle Utah Supermoto Championship was created by Miller Motorsports Park to encourage the growth of the sport in this region, utilizing its state-of-the-art Supermoto circuit that combines the 0.9-mile Miller Kart Track with one or both of the two dirt motocross sections on either end of the circuit. A wide variety of classes are offered for both novices and experts, young and old. Admission for spectators this weekend is just $5 per day. Kids 12 and under are free. The Miller Kart Track will have concession kart rentals available all weekend, and the Clubhouse will host a brunch on Sunday from 10:30 am 2:30 pm. Once the motorcycle teams are packed up and moved out at the end of the weekend, the staff at Miller Motorsports Park will prepare for one of the most fun major events of the season, GT LIVE 6 @ Miller Motorsports Park, scheduled for the following weekend, June 28-29. GT LIVE is an “interactive motorsports festival,” combining drifting, Time Attack, racing, karting, track time, autocrossing, car shows and music. What makes it most unique is that fans not only spectate, they can actually participate in much of the action. In addition to watching road racing, Time Attack and drifting competitions, fans can ride at speed in Time Attack, racing or drift cars, drive karts at the Miller Kart Track or autocross their own car, and it’s all included in the price of admission ($25/day, $40/weekend.) In addition there will be car shows, a behind-the-scenes look at a professional Time Attack team and a Battle of the Bands. More information about GT LIVE can be found at www.GTLiveTour.com. For event or facility information, or to purchase tickets, call (435) 277-RACE (7223) or visit www.MillerMotorsportsPark.com.
