Second round of Spanish 1000cc Formula Extreme Championship Montmelo, Spain May 25, 2008 D´Antin Kawasaki’s Javier Fores brought his ZX-10RR home to apparent victory over former European Superstock contender Enrique Rocamora (Speed Racing Suzuki) and Juan Manuel Luis (Neugrip Yamaha). American Kenny Noyes (Mororrad Suzuki) crashed out of fourth when holding off Jose Luis Cardoso (Blusens BQR Suzuki) with five laps to go in the second round of the Spanish 1000cc Formula Extreme Championship, run under heavy rain at the Circuit of Catalunya north-east of Barcelona. Nine riders crashed, mostly from aquaplaning, on the 2.937 Grand Prix circuit. Other top riders to crash, in addition to Noyes: Julian Mazuecos (Palmeto Kawasaki) and his team mate Ivan Silva, last year’s runner-up and pre-season favorite Carmelo Morales (L’Oreal Laglisse Yamaha), Josep Sarda (Hune Suzuki) and the man who came into Barcelona leading the points table, Bernat Martinez (T.B. Yamaha). Fores celebrated the win from the top of the podium, but the Spanish Federation disqualified him when “mechanical irregularities” were discovered during the post-race technical inspection. No further details were given. “I crashed on the brakes for the Caixa left-hander at the end of the back straight. I had just moved into forth in front of Cardoso and felt pretty comfortable. I just want to put this one behind me and get back up front in Jerez in three weeks,” said Noyes, who dropped from third to eighth in the points table, but is still only 22 points back of Rocamora, the new leader.
