Rizla Suzuki’s Tom Sykes battled his way to a superb second place finish last time out at Brands Hatch but he is hoping to go one better at his favourite UK circuit, Donington Park, on Bank Holiday Monday May 26th. The 2.5 mile Grand Prix circuit in Derbyshire will be the location for round four of the hotly-contested Bennetts British Superbike Championship. Sykes has been on fast form and running at the front and is now hoping to translate that into his first win of the year for his Rizla Suzuki team. Donington Park will once again be a new challenge to two times Japanese Superbike Champion Atsushi Watanabe. He has completed a track day there with assistance from John Reynolds, three times British Superbike Champion. Watanabe enjoyed the wide, flowing track and is aiming for a healthy qualifying session which will give him a good grid placing and a strong top-ten finish. Race one takes place on Monday at 1300 with race two at 1530. Jack Valentine – Team Manager Rizla Suzuki: “Donington Park should be a good circuit for Rizla Suzuki; it will suit our GSX-R1000s. Tom loves racing at Donington and has done extremely well there in the past. He secured pole position and two second places last year so hopefully with his Rizla Suzuki he will claim his first British Superbike win. “As for Atsu, he has some experience on this track now and he likes it. I hope he is able to settle into the circuit early in the weekend and pull in the results we know he is capable of. He has spent a lot of time with his team and has got his Rizla Suzuki working how he wants it. I think we have a good weekend ahead of us.”
