Vesrah. Wins. Again.
Vesrah Suzuki’s Tray Batey, John Jacobi and Mark Junge tasted victory once again in the 3rd round of the 2008 Bridgestone WERA National Endurance Series, Saturday. This round was a 6-hour event held at Jennings GP under beautiful sunny conditions. It was Vesrah Suzuki’s 61st National Endurance Series win.
In what looked to be a closer race than what Vesrah Suzuki is accustomed to Brand X Yamaha stayed on the lead lap up until the two-and-a-half hour mark when a bobbled pit stop dropped the Yamaha team of Ben Walters and Brett Champagne a-lap-and-a-half back. At the end of the all-green-flag event Vesrah Suzuki ended up two laps ahead of the Brand X Yamaha team.
Finishing third overall and first in the Middleweight Superbike class was Wikle Racing seven laps behind Vesrah Suzuki and one lap ahead of the Middleweight Superstock class winners Dalke Motorsports.
In a repeat of the Talladega round TVR 131 Yamaha finished seventh overall and won in the Heavyweight Superstock class. Ghetto Customs rounded out the top 10 winning the Lightweight Superbike class in an uncontested battle. The true excitement of the race came when an alligator decided it wanted to spectate and crossed the track, surprising some of the riders on the backstraight.

Round #3 WERA National Series, Jennings Gran Prix, Florida
Mother Nature had her way on Friday when late afternoon Thunderstorms came in and practice and qualifying was cancelled for the day at around 3:00pm.
Saturday saw sunshine and great weather for the 6 hour Bridgestone/WERA National Endurance. Twenty Teams entered and eighteen took the grid. After 264 Laps of uninterrupted racing Vesrah Suzuki took the checker flag two laps ahead of Brand X. Wikle Racing rounded out the podium with 257 Laps. Class winners included Vesrah Suzuki in Heavyweight Superbike with Tray Batey, John Jacobi and Mark Junge sharing the riding duties; TVR 131 took the Heavyweight Superstock win with Reuben Frankenfield, James Stroud and Zac Chapman; Wikle Racing took the Mediumweight Superbike win with brothers Luke and Russell Wikle and Dad Luther Wikle and Ryan O’Donnell riding; Dalke Racing took the Mediumweight Superstock win with Dane Westby, Dustin Meador and Giovanni Rojas riding; Ghetto Customs defended their Lightweight Superbike Class with Russell Stoddard, Cale Swiger and Tim Birdsong.
Sunday’s Michelin/WERA National Challenge Sprints saw some of the best racing across the board. In the Open Superstock Class Tray Batey, Robert Jensen and Keith Marshall put on a show with podium seeing them 1/2/3. Jimmy Mercktook the A Superstock Novice win. When the 600 Superstock Experts took the track Dane Westby set the fastest lap of the weekend with a 1:15.712. The podium was Robert Jensen, Joshua Day and Dane Westby. In the 750 Expert Superstock race Dane Westby pulled off the win over Robert Jensen and Tray Batey. Ryan O’Donnell won the Lightweight Twins Superstock Race. Payton Sassaman took the win in the 600 Superbike Race after a back and forth battle for 10 laps with second place Dane Westby and third going to Joshua Day. Sassaman repeated his winning ways in the 750 Superbike with his brother Brett Sassaman hot on his heels for second and Tim Hunt taking third. Miles Thornton took the win in Formula 2 Expert. Tray Batey took the Formula 1 win after a battle with Robert Jensen and Keith Marshall took the last podium position. Jimmy Merck continued his winning ways in 750 Superbike Novice and 750 Superstock Novice. Reese Wacker took him the honors in 600 Superstock Novice and 600 Superbike Novice. James Butler took home a pair of firsts in Formula 2 Novice and Lightweight Twins Superstock Novice. Little Michael Scott swept the Saturday and Sunday Mini races with wins on his Honda 150 both days.
