TORONTO, Ont. Armour Bodies, through its Canadian distributor Riders Choice, will sponsor the national Amateur 600 Sport Bike class of the Parts Canada Superbike Championship in 2008. The division will now be known as the Armour Bodies Amateur 600 Sport Bike Championship. Armour Bodies is a North Bay, Ont.-based company that produces bodywork for a wide range of sport bikes. Its products are used by the Team Toyota Yamaha Fast Company Racing and Team Suzuki / Blackfoot / Picotte Racing teams in the Parts Canada Superbike Championship, as well as the California Superbike School. “Armour Bodies has a long involvement with road racing in Canada and is an excellent fit with our national Amateur program,” said Colin Fraser of Professional Motorsports Productions, which administers the Parts Canada Superbike Championship. In addition to its Canadian distribution through Riders Choice, Armour Bodies has recently added Woodcraft Technologies Inc. of Winchendon, Mass. as a U.S. distributor and is in the process of adding importers/distributors in Australia, England and France. “We are excited to be taking our support of Canadian road racing to the national level,” said company president Billy Solmes. “The Amateur 600 Sport Bike class is the starting point of many great road racing careers and we look forward to seeing what new stars emerge from this year’s championship.” The national Amateur 600 Sport Bike class debuted in 2003. The 2006 champion, Karl Daigle of Granby, Que. is currently a rising star in the Parts Canada Superbike and Yoshimura Pro 600 Sport Bike divisions of the Canadian tour, and last year’s champ Paul Glenn of Keene, Ont. has been signed to the BMW Motorrad Canada factory team in the Thunder championship. “The Amateur 600 Sport Bike class has always featured some great racing and exciting talent,” said John McBride of Riders Choice. “This class has helped a lot of young racers make their way in the sport and with the support of Armour Bodies it will continue to do so.” Based in Mississauga, Ont., Riders Choice opened its 6,000 square foot accessory showroom and service centre in March, 2005. It is a distributor for some of the most prestigious names in motorcycle riding and competition. Riders Choice has a three-year deal with the Parts Canada Superbike Championship for sponsorship of the Amateur 600 Sport Bike class. For more information on Armour Bodies go to www.armourbodies.com.
