SONOMA, Calif. (May 8, 2008) Motocross racing makes its return to Infineon Raceway during the Kawasaki AMA Superbike Showdown, presented by Supercuts, May 16-18. More than 500 riders are expected for the event, which is hosted by Wine Country Motocross. The hills behind Turn 7 will come alive with 30 classes of competition, with riders battling for a pro purse of $25,000. This marks the first motocross event at Infineon Raceway since 2002 (Sonomafest). The professionally-designed 1.3-mile course has been created with more than 100,000 yards of dirt and features a challenging combination of natural terrain and supercross-style elements. It even has a pedestrian tunnel for fans to access the incredible trackside and Sonoma Valley views. Featuring a new 40-rider starting gate, paved pit area, live entertainment, factory participation and vendors, this will likely be the start of a new tradition at Infineon Raceway during AMA weekend.
