Former AMA Superstock/750cc Supersport and Formula Xtreme Champion Jason Pridmore is back racing in the AMA Pro Superstock class this weekend at Auto Club Speedway, in Fontana, California. “I got a call about two or three months ago from people who said they wanted to go racing, that they had heard I was riding overseas again,” Pridmore told Roadracingworld.com Friday. “So I thought it would be great to at least keep riding for fun. Then as we got into it, it turned a little more serious. I was all into it, and I had two GSX-R1000s already built. The Jordan Suzuki guys built me two bikes, and Jeremy Daniel put them together for me. Then the deal with those guys fell through.” Pridmore then went to France to race in the 24 Hours of Le Mans (a separate deal put together over the off-season) with the Maco Moto Racing team, which retired with mechanical troubles after 16 hours of racing. “Well, Alex Assanti from Bike911.com, he’s gotten to be a really good friend of mine, and he refused to let me not ride,” in the AMA again, said Pridmore. “While I was away in France, Alex and Jeremy and HALOF Racing and a number of people I probably don’t know worked together and got my bikes ready for this weekend. I got off the plane Tuesday night from France, and the next thing you know I’m here. It’s been a group effort to get me riding. I’m just enjoying riding again. I missed it last year. It’s just fun to get back out on the track.” Asked for his AMA Pro racing plans, Pridmore, who is fighting a bad cold, said, “That’s the beauty of it. I’m not sure what I’m going to do for the rest of the year. I’m sure you’ll see me here and there. There’ll be races that I want to do. I don’t have a real big desire to go back east unless it’s for something really good with a real strong team. If something came along and it were a proper team I would be interested. For right now, I’m here with my friends.”
