SpeedWerks.com Looks for Victory Daytona Beach, Fla. — Looking to make up ground, Team SpeedWerks.com is hoping to score the Sport Twins Class victory at Round 2 of the 2008 SunTrust MOTO-ST Series, April 27 at Virginia International Raceway. “This is definitely going to be an important round for us,” says team owner Steve Long. “We had an electrical problem on our No. 87 Suzuki SV650 at the season opener at Daytona which left us sitting in 12th place. It was really a bummer since we had a commanding lead and were running fifth overall. We did put our No. 86 Suzuki in fourth which softened the blow somewhat. Now we definitely need to step it up. It is much easier to make up points early in the season than at the end so that is our plan. Our No. 86 Suzuki is just seven points out of first and the No. 87 is 19 points out of the lead. A top finish this weekend will make a big difference. Running in the Sport Twins class for machines under 75 horsepower, Team SpeedWerks.com took a third in class last season and nailed the ST Manufacturer’s Championship for Suzuki. “We missed one round last year,” explains Long, “and that put us out of contention. This season, we are running two motorcycles and plan on being at each and every event. This is really a good series and fits perfectly into our schedule.” Headquartered in Dover, Del., SpeedWerks Sport Bike has been in business for over 10 years. Providing exceptional service and support to both pro and club racers, street riders and track day enthusiasts, this company has earned an outstanding reputation for their knowledge, attention to detail and bike prep. “Our crew definitely knows what it takes to win, as do our riders. For VIR, we will boast the talents of Brian Kcraget, Jeff Walker, Trey Yonce and one more rider to be named. Brian pretty much smoked them last year at this track and with a little luck we should be able to do it again. All three riders are familiar with the course, especially Brian who hails from Danville. It is his hometown track and he knows it like the back of his hand. With his skill and that of our other riders we should definitely be good to go. I have worked with Brian for over 10 years,” continues Long. “In fact, we used to compete against each other. He is one of the best riders in the country and a fierce competitor. He definitely hates to lose. Both Jeff and Trey also bring a lot to the team. They all have tons of racing experience and know what this type of team competition is all about.” Dueling it out on the VIR 3.27 mile road course, the SunTrust MOTO-ST Series will feature not only the Sport Twins Class (ST), but also the Buell Motorcycle Company SuperSport class (SST) which includes motorcycles producing between 90-118 horsepower and the BMW Grand Sport Twins class (GST) covering motorcycles producing 75-90 horsepower. Racers will take the Green Flag on Sunday, April 27 at 9:15 AM and will battle it out for 96 laps or a total of 2 ½ hours. This is definitely an action-packed battle you won’t want to miss. The SunTrust MOTO-ST Series is organized and sanctioned by Professional Motorsports Productions (PMP) of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and the Grand American Road Racing Association (Grand-Am), based in Daytona Beach, Fla., provides the series with administrative and commercial support. More, from another press release issued by Grand American Road Racing: TEAM RIGHTSFORBIKERS.COM LOOKING TO GRAB THE BRASS RING AT VIR Bradenton, Fla”¦Looking to grab the brass ring, Team RightsForBikers.com are making their way to Virginia International Raceway and Round 2 of the SunTrust MOTO-ST Series, April 27. “We are definitely ready for a win,” says team owner and well-known Florida attorney C.J. Czaia. “VIR is a spectacular track and a great place to race. Last year, despite an accident, we earned our first Podium finish at this track. If things go smoothly, we should definitely be able to grab the brass ring.” Competing in both the Buell Motorcycle Company SuperSport Twins class (SST) and in BMW GrandSport Twins class (GST), Team RightsForBikers.com will field Justin Filice and Rodolfo Ramirez aboard a Suzuki SV1000 in SST and Floridians John Linder and Jason Edmonds on a Ducati PS1000LE in the GST class. Ramirez, who hails from Venezuela is new to the team this season. He has been racing in Florida for the past six years. In 2007 he ran actually his own team, Team Florida, in the SunTrust MOTO-ST Series and showed the fans that despite a multitude of problems and lack of funds they were one of the top teams in the series. “I think we can do well in the SST class with Filice and Ramirez aboard,” says Czaia. “One of the things they have going for them is that they are both lightweight and that is a definite plus with the Suzuki SV1000. We scored a fifth place in SST at VIR last year and would really like to better this time out.” While Ramirez raced at VIR last year, this event will mark the first time Filice has run the entire course. “I’m excited,” says the native Californian. “It is an outstanding track and I can’t wait to take some laps. Naturally, my dad has given me some pointers and with a little practice I should have it dialed.” Equally as determined are Linder and Edmonds. “We are ready for another top finish,” they both echo. “The crew has been working double time to make sure our bikes are in top shape and they know what it takes. We have one of the best crews in the series and they want to win as much as we do. This will also be the first race with timed qualifying and that will really make a difference. It will be good for us and for the fans. We are ready to go.” About Team RightsForBikers.com Team RightsforBikers.com is an online resource dedicated to defending the rights of motorcyclists.
